Using Files Lite with Linux

Download Files Lite application to your iPhone or iPod Touch.

If you have a recent version of the Gnome or KDE desktop you should already have WebDAV support built-in. If not, see note below.

GNOME:

  1. In Nautilus select 'Connect to Server' from the Places or File menu.
  2. Select 'WebDAV (HTTP)
  3. For 'Server' enter the IP address portion of the Files URL. eg: 192.168.1.103
  4. Enter '8080' for Port.
  5. Enter a user name if you set up remote authentication in Files.
  6. Click 'Connect'

KDE:

To connect from KDE enter the Files URL into the Konqueror's Address Bar. You should replace 'http:' with 'webdev'.
eg: webdav://0.0.0.0:8080

Note: The above instructions should work with any current version of Linux, however if not, follow the instructions below.
To connect to Files from any operating system you need client software which supports the WebDAV protocol. For example you can use AnyClient (www.anyclient.com), which is a free Java WebDAV client.
On Linux you can use Davfs (http://dav.sourceforge.net).
